Sundays @ 6
Starting at 6pm each Sunday, this service is an informal, interactive
and contemporary gathering held in the Small Hall at St. Columb's. The
congregation varies between about 15 - 25 people week to week, mostly
consisting of senior high school students, university students and young
workers.
The music is contemporary in style and there are two ensembles consisting
of guitars, bass, vocals and percussion. There is usually an extended
period of praise with songs. The gathering always includes some kind of
discussion in smaller groups and the teaching of the Bible is applied
to issues and themes appropriate to youth and young adults.
The gathering concludes around 7.30pm and is followed by coffee/tea and
food. One Sunday per month the congregation is invited out to a local
café for dinner together. Occasional events are scheduled through the
year for dinner in the hall at 6pm with a guest speaker speaking on a
current issue. An informal service of Holy Communion is held four to six
times per year and is accompanied by a meal in the hall.
A team of six people meets regularly to plan the themes and structures
for the gatherings and invites others in the congregation to take part
in preparing or leading parts of the gatherings throughout the year.
